Most people spend longer than one day in Las Vegas, but this vibrant city was a one-day excursion for me after I visited some national parks nearby. If you are staying in Las Vegas for one day or for a couple weeks, here are my recommendations of what to do while in Vegas.
Find the Famous Las Vegas Sign
What is a trip to Vegas without a picture in front of the famous sign? The sign is located at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South. Depending on the time of day you go, there may be a line to get your perfect photo. I stood in line for about 20-30 minutes.
Walk The Strip
Of course, a trip to Las Vegas is not complete without a walk down The Strip. One moment you will be surrounded by a New York City vibe, but after walking a couple blocks, you can find yourself in a miniature Paris, France and Venice, Italy. Be sure to find the Eiffel Tower replica and the canals of Venice. If you are looking for a memorable excursion, pay to ride in one of the gondolas when exploring the Venice replication.
Try a New Restaurant
There are countless restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip and thousands more scattered around the city. Click this link for a list of the restaurants you can find on the Las Vegas Strip specifically.
Hit the Casino
Las Vegas is obviously known for gambling! I did not want to take the risk of losing a bunch of money, but I wanted to say I went to a casino in Vegas. I spent $1 and of course, lost $1!
Experience Fremont Street
Fremont Street Experience is another popular tourist attraction. Here, you can find neon lights, electric dining and shopping options, casinos, a zipline, and plenty of entertainers. Check out their calendar of events to see what shows and concerts are taking place during your visit.
Watch a Show at Bellagio Fountain
If you are looking for some free entertainment, Bellagio Fountain is an exciting activity to add to your itinerary. Several times a day, you can go to watch a fountain show that spans more than 1,000 feet into the air to some popular tunes. From Monday through Friday, the fountain display is every 30 minutes from 3:00-7:30 pm and every 15 minutes from 8:00-midnight. On Saturdays and Sundays, the show starts every 30 minutes from noon-7:30 pm and every 15 minutes from 8:00-midnight. I recommend getting there early to get a good viewing spot as herds of people gather around.
Explore Caesar’s Palace
Caesar’s Palace is an iconic Roman-themed hotel and casino with numerous shops and restaurants to keep you entertained. The architecture and luxury of Caesar’s Palace makes this place worth a visit. There is a free animatronic show about the fall of Atlantis here as well if you are looking for something different to do. Click the link for information about this free show.
Go to a Vegas Show
If you are looking for a show to keep you entertained, Las Vegas has something for you! Whether you are looking for a comedy night, a dancing or acrobatics show, or a famous theatre performance, you will have plenty of options to choose from. During my visit, I went to the Mad Apple Show that was put on by Cirque du Soleil. This show took place in the New York-New York Hotel & Casino and was a mix of acrobatics, comedy, magic, music, and dance. For more information about the show I went to, click this link.
Conclusion
Las Vegas definitely is an electric city that will keep you occupied during your visit. Although there are expensive restaurants, shows, and casino excursions you can take part in, there are also several free activities that I mentioned if you are traveling on a budget.
