And just like that, a new year is upon us again! The time is truly flying by, so how can you make this new year memorable and enjoy all the small and iconic moments? Plan some exciting adventures or try new things this year! Here are 10 ideas to get you thinking about how you can make this year stand out from the rest.

Check Something Off Your Bucket List

Don’t save your bucket list adventures for years down the road, because we’re not promised tomorrow! Purpose to start checking some of those activities or experiences off your list now. There are always excuses that can prevent us from soaking in each chaotic day of our lives, but we can choose to live in the present and find adventure each and every day! This can be the year that you ride in a hot air balloon, travel to your dream destination, or take a boxing class.

Try a New Food

This new year can be the year where you expand your horizon and find some new foods that you enjoy. Try making a new dish at home or try a unique food when traveling. Find an exotic fruit or snack at your local supermarket that you have never had before. This year, I plan on trying cultural foods from Turkey and am specifically excited to try baklava.

Visit a New City

Explore a new city. Be a tourist in a town nearby or explore a new destination that has been on your bucket list!

Find a New Hobby this New Year

Pick out a new hobby to explore! You could play a new sport like pickleball, make jewelry, hunt for seashells, find new local hikes, sew unique clothing pieces, or become a professional at a card game or board game. For other new hobby ideas, click this link.

Have a Solo Date Day

My new year’s resolution is to be brave and do more activities independently. I like to be with people by nature. When my friends are busy though, I tend to just binge watch TV at home. This year, I am purposing to use that time to be active and go out on solo dates. We only get one life, so we should romanticize even the small moments in life and do things that make us happy. I started the new year a bit early and have gone on two solo date days so far. I went on long beach walks, found shark teeth and seashells, read at a park, and drove along the coast with the windows down and island music playing.

Cook or Bake Something New

It is so easy to get stuck in a rut of cooking the same meals over and over again, so try spicing it up and cook a new recipe! I hope to bake fancy sourdough bread this year.

Send a Surprise Letter this New Year

Our world could use a little more love and selflessness. Send a letter to a friend or family member who you are grateful for.

Go to a Concert or Event

Find a memorable concert or event to attend this new year. You will have something that you can look forward to, and you will have memories that stick out later on. Maybe you will find yourself at a lively new music festival, local cultural festival, intense sports game, or a special holiday event.

Strive for Self Growth

We can always show more gratitude and see how it improves our attitude. I like to look through pictures and journal as I am reminded of how exciting life is and how I have so much to be thankful for. You could get in the routine of listing things you are grateful for on your way in to work and see how it changes your overall mindset and perspective.

Soak in All the Moments this New Year

Purpose to soak in the special and even the mundane moments. We know how fast time flies by, so take in each moment and memory this new year.
