If you are spending vacation time in Kaş, Turkey, the coastal views, boutiques, and restaurants will make for a memorable trip. If you have more than a day or two in Kaş though, you may consider adding an adventurous excursion to your itinerary or a day-trip. During my time in Kaş, I decided to book a spontaneous day-trip to Kastellorizo, Greece. This was one of my favorite memories from my trip. It is an iconic day-trip, so I recommend adding it to your itinerary if you have the availability!
Kastellorizo
Kastellorizo is the most remote island of Greece located far east from the mainland. This island is situated just south of Turkey. When you arrive to Kastellorizo, you are greeted by stunning colorful buildings lining the coast and friendly locals. I was also greeted by two giant sea turtles swimming in the crystal clear harbor. This exciting surprise right off the boat was the best start to my day-trip. For ideas on what to do in Kastellorizo, keep an eye out for my upcoming blog post on what to do on the island. But you can plan on eating delicious gyros and finding pretty hikes! Kastellorizo does not disappoint!

How to get from Kas to Kastellorizo
Located in the main city center or Old Town of Kaş, you can find ferry boats that will take you from Kaş, Turkey to Kastellorizo, Greece. The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes. We booked our tickets through Meis Express. Meis Express comes up on Google Maps and Apple Maps, and you can find the orange banner at their ticket stand.

You can buy ferry tickets online or at the ticket stand, but make sure you have your passport information as you will need this for your day-trip to Kastellorizo. We were able to buy tickets the day before our ferry ride online when we visited in May, but I recommend keeping an eye on their availability on the website. They have roundtrip ferry rides each day. Our ferry departed from Kaş at 10:00 am and returned to Kaş just after 4:30 pm. I recommend getting to the ferry port about 30 minutes prior to boarding. Ticket information can be found on their website, but our tickets were about $60 per person.
The travel time is quick, you can add another beautiful country to your vacation without much hassle at all, and you will get stamps in your passport! This day-trip does not disappoint!
Conclusion

To put it simply, if you have some extra time in your itinerary, you will not regret spending time exploring Kastellorizo, Greece! This island is not overrun with tourists. You get a feel of the Greek culture with stunning backdrops and without long lines and outrageous prices. Let me know in the comments if you make it to the island and what your trip highlight was!
