Canggu is a hipster beach town that is home to several cute shops filled with digital nomads and several beaches that line the coast. If you are planning to stay in Canggu, here are some popular activities to do and some of my favorite spots.
Surfing in Canggu
Canggu is a fantastic surfing destination. Echo Beach is a popular spot to ride the waves. I have never seen this many people surfing at once. It is a great spot to get comfy on the beach and watch their performances. If you are feeling more adventurous, you can get surfing lessons here as well.
Visit La Brisa Farmers Market
La Brisa is a luxurious beach hang-out spot that converts into an incredible farmers market every Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM. There is no entrance fee, but bring some cash, because you are sure to find some tempting clothing and souvenirs or some fresh food and coffee.
Check out Pura Tanah Lot
Tanah Lot Temple is an iconic cultural stop to add to your itinerary. Tanah Lot is a sacred Hindu temple that has been dedicated to the gods of the sea. This temple is unique, because during high tide, it sits in the middle of the water and can not be accessed. There are also several shops in the surrounding area that you can meander through. I would suggest visiting early in the morning to avoid the crowds or visiting in the evening, because the temple and the coastline make for beautiful sunset photos.
Try new restaurants
If you are a foodie like me, you are probably always excited to try new restaurants and new food on each of your vacations. Canggu has plenty of restaurants to keep you from getting hungry. You can find all kinds of restaurants, but I want to take the time to highlight my favorite trendy cafe that I visited while in Canggu. Shady Shack is a chic cafe with delicious smoothies and vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere is relaxing and aesthetic. Shady Shack is the workplace of many digital nomads. Get a massage
Bali is definitely the place to relax and get a lovely massage, because you are likely on vacation and the price is right here! Some popular massage salons are Tonic Day Spa, Spring Spa, and COMO Uma. I’m talking like an hour massage for about $10 (USD)… It doesn’t get much better than that!
Enjoy the nightlife
Canggu has several beach bars that come alive at night. Sandbar is a wonderful restaurant where you can pick a beanbag in the sand and watch the surfers. They have great happy hour deals for drinks. Finns Beach Club is a popular spot to party with new DJs and vocalists every day. Additionally, The Lawn and Old Man’s are two other vibrant venues that will keep you entertained.
Conclusion
If you are looking for a central beach destination in Bali, Canggu is rising in popularity. If you have time on your trip, I would recommend also spending some time in the jungle area of Ubud and on the beautiful islands of Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, and Nusa Penida.
