Key West is certainly a hot spot in Florida! It is a lively destination where the sun is shining and the weather is warm since you’re so far south. The island has a lot to offer as it is very touristy. Whether it is your first time visiting Key West or you are returning to the island, here are some ideas of what to do during your stay.
Experience the nightlife

Key West is definitely known for the crazy nightlife. A lot of party people travel here, but the island has more to offer than just partying. If you want to experience the nightlife, Duval Street is party central. There are countless bars with live music and dancing. Some popular bars include Sloppy Joe’s Bar, Rick’s Bar, and Whistle Bar. I recommend visiting Willie T’s which is shown in the picture above. Enjoy their live music, cheap drinks, and you can leave your legacy and put a dollar on the wall or ceiling with a message on it.
Try some key lime pie

Key lime pie is a must in the Keys! Most of the restaurants have key lime pie on their menu, but Blue Heaven and Moondog Cafe are two popular spots. I am not a huge fan of key lime pie in general, but the pie slice from Blue Heaven was incredible! The slice is loaded with delicious meringue as you can see!
Explore Key West Historic District
If you are looking for a peaceful walk, head to Old Town, the historic district of Key West. The houses are stunning. It is such a beautiful and quiet space – perfect for a morning walk or a peaceful bike ride.
Tour the Ernest Hemingway House
The Ernest Hemingway House is a hot spot for tourists who want to see the world-famous American writer’s house. It is located on the south part of the island and is a short walk from the historic district of Key West. Click the link for their tour rates and hours.
Take a picture by the southernmost point buoy

The southernmost point buoy is a popular spot to take your Instagram pictures. This buoy marks that you are just 90 miles from Cuba. Plan on standing in a fairly long line prior to getting your perfect picture.
Find some souvenirs

Duval Street is lined with souvenir shops. Whether you want a Key West t-shirt, a hat, or common souvenir trinkets, you will be sure to find what you are looking for.
Spend time by the water

Of course, if you’re on an island, spend time by the clear water and take in the beautiful views. Soak in some sunshine and take some time to relax during your trip. This small beach was located outside of Southernmost Beach Cafe.
Conclusion – Key West
Key West is a bustling tourist spot if you are looking for a warm island to explore. Of course, this just touches the surface of what you can do on the island. There are plenty of excursions you can book to get out on the water, and I recommend visiting more than just one island when in the Keys.
